I do agree that social challenges is responsible for the decline in venice.
Venetians become less prepared for war as they shifted focus away from security matters. Thus, they are more concerned about wealth. This made administration and development of city-state became less important for them. This also made the gap between the rich and poor widened. As the venetians became richer,Gambling halls and Carneavale are set for their entertainment and pleasure. And so many rich nobles lost thier fortunes due to gambling. Thus, this made a fall in Venice.
Maritime competition also have made an impact in the decline of Venice.Although this made a discovery of new sea routes where Vasco Da Gamma successfully reached India to buy spice. This sea route destroy Venice's monopoly of the lucrative spice trade and greatly reduce the large profits. The sea route was also time-consuming and it also considered unsafe because of robbers and plunderers in the sea.But venice is linking with England and expanding its trade to North Sea region for its higly profitable and high-demand glassware.New trade rivals is also another factor for the decline. The Dutch East India Company and English East india Company was formed which made Venice's position as an entrepot port get affected.Venetians also try to imitate the design of the Dutch and British ships, but they fail to get skilled sailors to operate it.This made venetians to respond by imposing a protectionist policy. They inposed higher duties on foreign traders, which the traders think it is too costly to trade.Venice thus loss some of its trading policy which made a decline in Venice
I think social challenges is responsible for the decline of Venice as it made Venice have great loss in fortunes. It also made Venice to suffer due to its weak security, thus crime is possible.

I agree that social challenges is more responsible for the decline of Venice.
As even if there is another route to India and Venice lost its source of trade of spice, Venice could survive as long as the people in Venice would work hard and produce other product such as glass and other materials, Venice would still have thrive but the people partied day and night for 6 months neglecting thier works thus this would lead to drop in revenue for Venice and the fall of economy and lastly the fall of Venice.

I agree that social challenges were responsible for the decline of Venice rather than maritime competition.
If the Venetians did not spent their days enjoying themselves and lost their fortunes through gambling. Instead, they work hard and continue to strive for better development for Venice. Even if the trade route did not work, the economy of Venice will not be affected that badly, as there is other event that contributes to Venice's economy. However, when the Venetians lost the mind set to work hard, Venice falls as there are no Venetians to work for the country.

I agree that social challenges was responsible for the decline of Venice.
If not for the people lack in sustaining the economy growth but in turn partying all night long for continuous 6 months, the economy would not have led to a downfall. And since the economy fall. This in turn led to fall or decline of Venice.

Aziimi - your conclusion is weak. You need to show why social challeges is more important as compare to maritime competition. You have only touch the surface but not gong into depth.
0705.09 Forever - The idea is there but you need to show why the partying day and night lead to the failure to arrest the problem of maritime competition.
lenice - very good but need to improve on your sentence construction so that the points are clearer. For example, what is the other event?
Aida - the idea is there but you need to link social challenges to maritime competition. In other words, why social challenges lead to the failure to arrest the issue of maritime competition.
Thank you for your contribution.
